PROGRAM ABSTRACT: Mr. Scott Christie, Chief Bridge Engineer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, will provide an overview of the PennDOT bridge program as outlined in the current Business Plan for the Chief Engineer’s Office. Topics will include: * Condition of PA Bridges * Electronic Data Collection for Inspection * Bridge Construction Program Outlook * High Performance Concrete and Steel * New Bridge Barriers/Parapets * MMFX Reinforcement Status * Status of PennDOT LRFD Implementation/Computer Programs ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Mr. Christie has been PennDOT’s Chief Bridge Engineer since 1995 and is responsible for statewide bridge design and inspection activities. He is a member of various AASHTO Bridge Technical Committees, and is Chair of the Culvert Committee. He is also a member of ABCD, ASHE, and ASCE. He started his career as a bridge design engineer for Modjeski and Masters before coming to PennDOT in 1987. He received his Master’s in Engineering from Cornell University and his B.S.C.E. from University of Pennsylvania. He plays a little golf, but watches a lot of soccer.
